Edit: You can download the latest version of these ‘mini-apps’ here

If you’re reading this, you’re probably still on the 800,000+ person waiting list for Notion AI 🥲 Or maybe you’re just looking for a slightly more customisable way to access this amazing tool, that can be used on mobile as well as desktop.

I’m releasing these ‘mini-apps’ for free (at least, to begin with) and all of the services that they’re built with are free to use, although they have paid options as well.

Here’s a quick demo of what this can do -

Subscribe to get notified when I release more automations and Notion templates in the future.

Apple Shortcut

Setup guide -

To setup the Apple Shortcut you’ll need:

  • An OpenAI account and API key

  • A Notion account (affiliate link) and Internal Integration Token

  • These Apple Shortcuts - Settings and App

Updates

27.12.2022

  • Bug fix - prevent a question mark from being included in the response if you ask a question without adding a question mark at the end of the text.

  • If you’re using the Shortcut in a country that uses commas to indicate decimal places, please add a \ before the number in your Settings Shortcut for the temperature. Otherwise you’ll see an invalid JSON error.

Rows Widget

Setup guide -

To setup the Rows widget you’ll need:

  • An OpenAI account and API key

  • A Notion account (affiliate link) and Internal Integration Token

  • A Make account (affiliate link) and this scenario blueprint

  • A Rows account (affiliate link) and the widget template

I’d recommend favouriting the page that you embed the widget in, for easy access or you could put it in a synced block and use the below Apple Shortcut to quickly add the widget to any Notion page.

Optional Apple Shortcut:

  • Settings and App

Useful links for OpenAI:

  • Check your usage

  • Details about the different models

  • OpenAI’s pricing

I will keep updating these ‘mini-apps’, especially if Notion AI is pricey, once Notion start charging for the service. So subscribe to this newsletter receive those updates in the future. Paid subscribers will get early access to updates - here’s what I’m working on right now.

Needless to say, setting this up wasn’t easy so it might not work perfectly every time 😅 If you run into issues - especially if the formatting of a response isn’t quite right - please let me know and I’ll do my best to help. It’ll probably be helpful if you send me a copy of the response that you got from GPT-3 in your message.

If you have any requests for different prompts that I should add e.g. ‘recipes’ or ‘social media posts’, send them my way!

Is it possible to do the above with shortcuts with the research version of OpenAI which is still currently free? edit: I've looked as you mentioned into the trial period and I am in fact still in that period so no worries, thanks!
